#1 Educational toy - Toddler
Remote Love to Walk Baby Pooh
This adorable baby Winnie the Pooh doll is designed especially for toddlers.
Just like them, Baby Pooh is learning to walk. Squeeze his hand and Pooh
starts to move and music begins to play. Pooh starts off slowly and a little
wobbly at first, but before long he starts to pick up speed, as does the
music. Finally he asks, "Want to run with me?" Then he really takes off!
Baby Pooh is voice-activated, so he starts to walk and talk when he “hears”
his friends call out to him. If he should fall down, Baby Pooh asks for help
… and then a hug. (Requires four AA batteries.)
#1 Educational toy - Preschool
Animal Hospital (Target exclusive)
At first glance, it looks like an oversize lunch bucket, but this is a
pretend animal hospital. Budding vets can care for the three stuffed animals
(dog, cat and bird) that come with it, or any of their dolls. The hospital
has three separate cages, each with its own color-and-shape matching key. It
comes with a real flashlight and an assortment of pretend vet tools,
including a stethoscope, tweezers, play syringe and thermometer. Teachers
liked this toy because it encourages "creativity, imagination, role playing,
and nurturing." They said their kids "played with it constantly." (Sold
exclusively at Target.) (Requires 1 AA battery.)

Color Magna Pad Takara
Finally, a magnetic sketch pad that lets kids draw in vibrant color! Little
artists can draw freestyle with the special drawing pen, or stamp triangle,
square or circle shapes. Just imagine: red flowers, brown trees, green frogs
and blue cars! It really is amazing. A quick slide of the "magic eraser"
clears the screen. Teachers told us the kids loved it and wanted to draw
things again and again. They also said this toy "inspires creativity," which
is why the Color Magna Pad was the educational winner in the school-age
category. Parents will like the fact that this is a quiet toy. |
